Gravity

What is gravity?

grav·i·ty:
the force of attraction by which terrestrial bodies tend to fall toward the center of the earth.

I found out that when we are kids we don't think nor want to agree with gravity. Those who know me personally know that I have always agreed with not agreeing with gravity....jumping, climbing, lifting etc,,, But as the years go by I noticed that I tend to start agreeing more and more with gravity.
I am not saying that it does not exist (of course it does) it's just that the rules are the ones I disagree with.
Let me explain; when we're kids even though we have smaller bodies and limited motor skills we see obstacles as just objects that we need to conquer and the conquer part is easier. A tree, sofa, kitchen counter, set of stairs, the top of a car and an endless amount of objects that we want to climb and conquer. As a kid we look at it and we don't agree with gravity we just want to go over that object (obstacle) and for the most part we do it until another force comes in and says (get off that tree you are going to fall and brake your arm!) now that is an obstacle that we seem to have a bigger problem conquering, and those are the ones that accumulate and make a mountain for us as adults.
Today as I see the world around me and see my gravity (all of the words, comments and invalidations that have been made through the years) and I see that this gravity has been inside me and that I have the power to not agree with it.
As an adult I should have more power to not agree with gravity (I am taller, wiser, faster) but yet it is harder to climb a tree or jump on the kitchen counter). So what happened: those words that have been said to me made me heavier, slower and made the obstacles bigger.
How can one word make a kitchen counter bigger and the light bulb higher??????
The power of these words have made gravity more real, words are a symbol for what I want the people to know what I am thinking. But words are not objects, so if they are not objects they should not be obstacles.
I have my own personal world to conquer and I have enough to figure out so those negative symbols that people throw at me are not valid. I will only take the positive symbols so they can help me conquer my obstacles......

I hope you have a wonderful day full of great symbols (words) and full of overcoming of obstacles.

P.S.
remember to recycle.

Thanks

Good Ole Mother Earth

I’ve been looking at various things to go over due to the fact that there are things in the environment that need attention and there are so many aspects of saving mother earth that we have to take it one thing at a time. It can be a bit overwhelming since there is so much to do.

We are going to do this with the 3 R’s. Let’s take the first R. Reuse: So here are some helpful tips to Reusing.

These tips come from Tips on reusing from just my own experience.

Reusing the following products can help you save money and good ole mother earth;

1. Plastic bags, whether from groceries or whatever kind of shopping that you may do. This can also be done with paper bags. By the way the paper bags can also come in handy for us moms out there if you have any kids needing some materials for school projects or for those young aspiring artist to make all sorts of things out of.

2. For furniture that you want to get rid of or any type of clothing or toys just give me a call and I will be more than happy to take care of that for you. As well as computer or electronics. You can reach me at Vintage.mom@hotmail.com or call me at 305.336.1776.

3. Garage sale ensures that you get so money for that and that somebody gets a nice little treasure.

4. Consider shopping with a reusable tote bag instead of using plastic or paper.

5. Use recycled materials. Just about anywhere you go you can find these kinds of materials.

Reduce

1. Getting the 5 gallon water system in the house instead of the bottled water. If you are going to get the bottled water make sure that you have the recycling system with you local waste management to recycle.

2. If you have any children you can pay them to take care of the recycling. That way they are doing something around the house and reducing the amount of the trash that is not being recycled.

3. Keep the outside clean of any litter.

4. When walking around or traveling somewhere and you happen to see some trash on the ground pick it up and throw it away. This will be your good deed for the day and ensures that mother earth is cleaner.

Recycle

1. Have a recycling system

2. Pay your kids to handle the recycling if you don’t want to do it.

3. When going around have a plastic bag in the car for recycling and put your plastics and what not in there and when you get home you can just put it in there or have your kids do it since you are already paying them for that.

Hopefully these tips helped to get the earth friendly bug in you inspired. If you have your own tips that are helpful and would like to share them with me I would love to hear from you. Just email me at Vintage.mom@hotmail.com and give me all the info on how to do this and if you want me to I will post it on my blog so others can see this too.

Have fun with this and check out my blog for posts on our inventory.

Today's Field Trip

So I made it to the end of the road and boy was it a windy and long....long....long road. When I reached the end it was like heaven. I had finally reached the end.

I am actually in the recycling plant for our area......

So I get out of the car, gather the kids and we’re off.... I felt like a little girl walking through the museum. It was the best field trip ever. I wanted to be the first in line. I wanted to go inside the room and get started NOW!!!! Okay so, you may think “what a loony she is “. But guess what? I am in a place where they are taking care of my home (earth) and I appreciate that. Be it for business or not, it protects my home (earth).

Alright, we made it in, the kids are in their seats. Guess where I sat??? The very first chair! I am telling you this was so much fun. I was 8 years today for about 2 hours.

So the gentleman started to explain all the three R's. He went off on the glass, plastic and metal and the ton of waste ( 5 pounds of waste per day per person) that each person produces. That is a lot of garbage per person and only one of 5 bottles of water gets to the recycling plant. He said that the only way to let others know (the companies that produce the products) is by you and I, the consumer buying products that are made of recycled materials. Mind you I know all of this by heart and the gentleman giving us the tour (it was a TV tour, I wasn't allowed in the real line. Due to insurance purposes of course.... I said I would sign a waiver just so that I could go in but it was a no go). Any who, I think he couldn’t wait for me to leave. I was asking a question every minute but hey, this is my purpose. I have to get as much info as possible. Anyway, all in all the purpose for this field trip was for the kids to learn more about recycling and they did and they had fun doing it. So did I. I am very grateful to Waste Management in Pembroke Pines for their hospitality and Shiraz for the wonderful tour.

If you are interested in this tour contact Waste Management and ask for
Shiraz Kashar 954-520-2022 and tell him that Vintage Mom sent you. He even gave us a nice souvenir. It was a cute garbage bin for my desk. So continue in helping mother earth and let’s have a clean, full of beauty and fresh air.... productive week!
